Is Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 confirmed?

Jujutsu Kaisen grabbed a lot of headlines in 2023. The blockbuster show's second season was an absolute rollercoaster of action, gore and more shocking twists than most anime manage in their entire runs.

Luckily for fans, Jujutsu Kaisen season three was officially confirmed after the season two finale.

It wasn't all good, though, as behind-the-scenes issues plagued the show's production and caused harm and stress to its creative team. Despite these problems, the animators of Jujutsu Kaisen season two's explosive Shibuya Incident arc delivered exceptional fight scenes, jaw-dropping moments, and major cliffhangers every week.

So the question remains: How do you follow up on that? Let's take a look at what might be coming next.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 release date: When will it come out?

Jujutsu Kaisen season three was confirmed via a small teaser after the second season finale aired. The teaser also confirmed the story will continue by adapting the manga's Culling Game arc, but we don't have any news of a release date quite yet. There were a little over two years between the end of season one (March 2021) and the beginning of season two (July 2023), so we'd be surprised to see Jujutsu Kaisen return any earlier than 2025.

In between season one and season two, we did get the prequel Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which served mostly as a standalone where fans finally got to meet Yuta Okkotsu and learn about his troubled past.

Just as the prequel was a welcomed season-hiatus surprise, we're keeping our fingers crossed that we'll see Yuji Itadori and co. back on the big screen perhaps even before the season three release.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 studio and voice cast: Who's in season 3?

Jujutsu Kaisen's cast will probably be much the same for a third season, although there will be some noticeable differences.

We can assume that Satoru Gojo will not be heavily featured, since he's still very much trapped in the prison realm. We also don't necessarily know the state we'll find Nobara Kugisaki in, after her run-in with Mahito.

And, of course, we said goodbye to several supporting cast members during the Shibuya Incident – the biggest tragedy being the death of Kento Nanami, aka the internet's husband and all-round gallant good guy.

Discussing Nanami's death during an interview with GameRant, Yuji Itadori voice actor Adam McArthur said he thought it was "beautiful" how the show handled it. "We got to live in the moment, which is pretty courageous of them as storytellers and as animators," he said.

As for Nobara's fate, he continued: "But as far as shocking goes, there were two things in that scene with Nobara that really stood out to me. One of them was the sound effects that they used when she fell back towards the camera, like the thud. And, there was a POV shot through her eye. It's so cool that they don't shy away from making us really feel uncomfortable."

With that in mind, here's who we are expecting to see back for Jujutsu Kaisen season three:

Yuji Itadori – Junya Enoki (Japanese); Adam McArthur (English)

Yuta Okkotsu - Megumi Ogata (Japanese); Kayleigh McKee (English)
